Ever Bloomfield: 14 keys between the Daintree and the reef

Ever Lodges' first lodge opens on 1 November 2026 on the Daintree Coast of Tropical North Queensland, and bookings are already open.

Ever Bloomfield sits on the Daintree Coast, between the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, two World Heritage areas that sit side by side here. No road reaches the lodge itself: guests arrive by boat or helicopter, and the standard route runs by road from Mount Louis Airstrip to Port Bloomfield, then by boat.

It is small: 14 keys, open to guests of all ages, and the first property from a new Australian company, Ever Lodges. Bookings opened on 2 June 2026 for arrivals from 1 November.

Who is building it

Wolveridge Architects designed the lodge, and Jacqui Dunn Interiors did the interiors. The rooms use local timber and stone, with colours taken from the Daintree’s foliage and artwork by local Indigenous and Daintree artists.

Running it is Patrick Barrie, whose previous posts include qualia, Saffire Freycinet and Longitude 131°. That is a telling list: three of the country’s best-known luxury retreats, each one built around a single remarkable place.

Rooms

There are four room types. The Queenslander, at 80 square metres, takes its cue from the state’s classic raised houses, with wide verandahs set above the forest floor. Two freestanding Suites of 76 square metres can be joined for families, and five Cabins of 46 square metres sit in the middle of the guest area with water views and a private deck. Lodge Suites complete the count.

How the days work

Everything is included: meals, premium drinks, the daily shared experiences, laundry and the transfers in. The shared rooms are a restaurant called the Long Room, a Pool Lounge and a small bar, the Speak Easy, with a pool table and low amber light.

The expedition programme carries the lodge. A full-day reef trip crosses the Coral Sea to Cedar Bay, East and West Hope Islands and Pickersgill Reef, with snorkelling and citizen science on the way. On land there are guided rainforest drives, and a longer journey along the CREB Track to Roaring Meg Falls that finishes with a smoking ceremony with Traditional Owners.

Our view

Ever Bloomfield is aiming at the same traveller as the lodges its general manager came from, and the setting gives it a real claim to that company. Getting there takes planning, and that is part of the point.
