The Ritz-Carlton, Perth sits on Elizabeth Quay at 1 Barrack Street, where the city grid meets the Swan River. It opened in November 2019 with 205 rooms and suites, and every one has floor-to-ceiling glass facing the river, the skyline or the lawns of Langley Park. In October 2026, Condé Nast Traveler readers placed it No. 1 in the [2026 Readers' Choice Awards Top 15 Hotels in Australia and New Zealand](https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/australia-new-zealand-top-hotels), with a score of 99.25, just ahead of The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne.

Every room has a seating area by the window and a bathroom with dual vanities and a standalone bath. Premium Swan River rooms face the water and The Bell Tower.

The Studio rooms are the sweet spot. Each comes with Club Lounge access and daily breakfast for two, and the 64 sqm Soaking Tub Studio sets a sculptural freestanding bath against the glass. Park View and River View Studios are named for what the windows face.
Suites start with the Langley Park Suite (103 sqm) and the Elizabeth Quay Suite (104 sqm), each with a separate living room and a powder room; some Elizabeth Quay Suites add a private balcony. At the top is The Ritz-Carlton Suite, 277 sqm with a master bedroom, study, balcony, separate living and dining rooms and a butler's kitchen. Its bathroom carries Diptyque amenities and opens to a double walk-in wardrobe, and a connecting room is available for families.
The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge serves breakfast, lunch, hors d'oeuvres and evening cordials with Swan River views, using Western Australian produce. Club access has to be booked with the room, since Marriott Bonvoy elite status does not include it.
Hearth is the main restaurant, and the name is literal. The kitchen cooks over an open fire with produce from Western Australian growers, and the wine list leans on local makers. The five-course Taste of Hearth menu comes with optional wine pairings, while the Chef's Counter seats one party per sitting beside the kitchen, with the chefs presenting each course and a sommelier matching the wines.
Breakfast is also served at Hearth, with tables running out to an al fresco terrace.
Hearth Lounge handles small plates, pre-dinner cocktails and the Hearth Signature Afternoon Tea: two courses of savoury and sweet dishes from local produce, with Seven Seas Tea and optional sparkling or Champagne packages.
Songbird Bar and Lounge is the terrace bar, with indoor and outdoor seating looking over the quay. Each signature cocktail takes its name from a Western Australian native bird and arrives with a small paired dish. In-room dining runs 24 hours.
The heated outdoor infinity pool looks down the Swan River toward the Elizabeth Quay Bridge, with a whirlpool alongside. The Ritz-Carlton Spa has four treatment rooms, including a couples suite, plus separate vitality pools for men and women, spa baths, a sauna and relaxation lounges. Treatments use LaGaia Unedited and Biologique Recherche products, and the Biologique Recherche facial begins with a skin diagnosis.
The gym is open 24 hours and includes a yoga studio.
Perth's CBD now has two very different luxury hotels a short walk apart. [COMO The Treasury](/hotels/wa/perth/como-the-treasury/) is the heritage choice, 48 rooms inside the restored State Buildings. The Ritz-Carlton is the river choice: bigger, newer, and organised around water views, an outdoor pool and a terrace bar.
Guests can walk to Barrack Street Jetty for ferries to Rottnest Island and Fremantle, and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is close by for anyone in town on business. The hotel's own day trips reach well beyond the city, with a half-day Swan Valley tasting route, a full day in Margaret River on Wadandi land, and a private Kings Park walk built around cultural teachings.
Families are catered for with a Ritz Kids passport trail through the lobby level and an optional in-room teepee for children five and under.
Trade-offs are mostly about cost. Rates sit at the top of the Perth market, parking is $80 a day, and the minimum check-in age is 21. For a Perth stay with the river in view from bed and a pool to swim in after a long flight, this is the hotel to book.
